Week commencing 30th Sept 2019

Downing class have continued to demonstrate what excellent role models are this week - they have successfully appointed our two school council representatives (well done to Boldi and Nuria!) and have responded to each of the week's challenges with enthusiasm.

In maths, we have been thinking about different ways to represent missing number problems. Here, Matilde has chosen to use the part-part whole model to work out that she needs to subtract, and then has used Nuria's rule to check that she was correct.

In English this week, we have been starting our unit on 'warning stories' and learning our model text: The Canal. We had a go at using the sentence 'The water was still,  dark and deep' as a scaffold for our own 'power of three' sentences.

In science, we have continued our circulation topic by learning about the different components of blood. Here is a picture of the 'blood' we made! Downing class pupils should be able to tell you what the red cheerios, white marshmallows, oats and coloured water represent.
