Week commencing 28th Oct 2019

Feeling refreshed after our half-term break, we have begun our new genre in English. For the next few weeks, we are going to be writing newspaper reports. We began by writing a newspaper report for an event we knew from a fairytale. For example, we had Three Houses Burnt Down, Hansel and Gretel Missing, Princess Unconscious, etc. We then learnt our model text. Here is the text map:

Can you remember the entire newspaper report?

In Maths, we are continuing with multiplication and division. This week, the focus was on DIVISION. By the end of the week, we were all giving long division a go! It really helps if we write down the multiples of the number we are dividing by first! Below are some examples of long division:

In Science, we finished off learning about the circulatory system by writing an explanation text about it. It was incredible to see how much we had learnt about the heart, blood vessels and blood cells. There were also some fantastic diagrams drawn to support the writing!

In History, we thought about the role woman played during WWII and looked at propaganda posters, encouraging women to work in the factories, etc. We also discussed the problems women working caused at the end of the war, when the men returned.
