St Edmund's Class - Miss Ali
Welcome to St Edmund's class where we enjoy learning, praise effort and celebrate achievement!
Children are taught a range of subjects including daily Phonics, English and Maths lessons.
Our Phonics wall showing all the sounds and codes that we use to help us when reading and writing.
At the Trumpington Federation, we teach synthetic phonics through Phonics International. This half term we have started to revise the unit 1 and 2 codes that the children will have already covered in reception. These are the codes the children have been practising so far:
/c/ /k/ /-ck/ /e/ /h/ /r/ /m/ /d/ /g/ /o/ /u/ /l/ /-ll/ /f/ /-ff/-ss/ /b/ /j/ /y/ / ai/ /ay/ /w/ /oa/ /ow// ie//igh// er/ /ur/ /ar / /oi/ oy/ /ue/ /oe/ /ge// i-e/ /e-e/
In St Edmund's class, we like to praise for effort and having a growth mindset. Each week a child who has shown these attributes will be given Bertie Bee to take home for the weekend. Bertie Bee enjoys listening to stories - so please read to him lots whilst you have him! Then you can record your reading adventures in the book.
PE days - Wednesday and Friday
Library book change - Wednesday
Decodable book change - Thursday
Please read with your child five times a week for 10 minutes.
Spellings - children will be sent home five spellings a week in their blue spelling folders. These spellings include sounds they have already learnt in school. Please could your child practise these ready for their spelling test.
Mathletics - activities will be allocated each half-term which are related to the topics we are covering in class. When the children complete a set amount they will receive a certificate!
Half-termly project - please see newsletter below.
