Artificial Intelligence (AI) Transparency Statement for the Trumpington Federation

Purpose of AI Use

At the Trumpington Federation, we are developing our use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to support teaching, learning, and administrative tasks. Used correctly, these tools offer a range of benefits to enhance educational experiences, improve efficiency, and reduce workload.

How AI Might Be Used

The Federation will respond to advances and developments in technology and AI tools, and assess the risks and benefits of these in line with our values.

We may use AI for:

  • Teaching and Learning: AI may assist in creating lesson plans, generating educational content, and offering adaptive learning resources.

  • Administrative Tasks: AI tools may be used for a range of administrative tasks where time savings and efficiencies are assessed to be beneficial.

All AI output will be assessed for accuracy and bias.’

Data Privacy and Security

We prioritise pupil safety and privacy. AI tools used at the Federation comply with data protection regulations and do not share personal information outside authorised systems.  Staff are only permitted to use AI tools on our approved list. 

We do not upload pupil data or work (which is the pupil’s intellectual property) to generative AI platforms for the purposes of assessment, or marking and feedback. A number of platforms used by schools employ elements of AI to process, for example, attainment and progress data.  However, these are closed, non-generative platforms and so fall within normal data processing activities.

Human Oversight

Teachers and staff remain responsible for all educational decisions. AI is a supportive tool, not a replacement for human judgment.

Transparency and Accountability

  • Parents and guardians will be informed about any AI tools used in classrooms.

  • We regularly review AI systems to ensure they align with our values and ethical standards.
