Week commencing 9th Sept 2019

Starting The Term With A Bang!

What a great week and what a great start to the term!

In English, the children have been reading lots of Greek myths. We've had a lot of fun learning our model text (Perseus and Medusa) and most of us can now retell this by heart using the actions to help us. Why not have a go at performing this at home?

In Maths, we've been learning all about Number and Place Value. We've done some work on Roman numerals, recognising the place value of 4 digit numbers and rounding to the nearest 10 and 100. Have a go at these questions at home:

  • Round 47 to the nearest 10.
  • Round 152 to the nearest 10.
  • Round 438 to the nearest 100.
  • What's wrong? 185 rounded to the nearest 10 is 180.

We've also enjoyed getting stuck into the our new Topic: Ancient Greece. We had a think about what we already knew about this period of history, as well as brainstorming some things we would like to know about Ancient Greece. In addition, we have learnt about where modern day Greece is and where the ancient Greek civilisation spanned. Finally, we had great fun making our own Ancient Greek wreaths!
