Week commencing 28th Oct 2019

Autumn 2 - Week 1

This week we have been learning about balanced arguments. We have learnt our model text, had debates about different topics and written a 5 sentence balanced argument practising some sentence openers.
Here is Ilyes' 5 sentence balanced argument on 'Should each class have a pet?'

This week in Maths we starting looking at multiplication and division. We have begun by learning about multiples and factors.

A multiple is a number that can be divided by another number a certain number of times without a remainder.
For example;
The multiples of 2 are all the numbers in the 2 times table, such as 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and so on.

Factors are numbers that divide exactly into another number.
For example, the factors of 8 are:
1, 2, 4, 8

Here is Mason's work on multiples:

This week in potions we learnt about mixtures and solutions, and how to separate them. We discovered that you can separate a mixture using filtration. A solution cannot be separated by filtration, only by evaporation.
Here is a photo of our solutions ready to start evaporating. How could we speed up the process? What would the process be called if we wanted to save the solvent (water) as well as the solute?
