Week commencing 27th Jan 2020

This week, Year 3 took on the challenge of creating a giant pyramid.  Each child had to construct a square based pyramid using sticks and elastic bands.  These were then joined together in layers to form a pyramid large enough to lie down inside.  It was a lesson in collaboration and team work.

We had to deconstruct some of the layers in order to get it out of the hall but are hoping to re-build it again outside when the weather improves to serve as a more permanent instillation.

In addition, we thought about the challenges the Egyptians must have had to overcome in order to build these structures.  Each block of stone was huge.  In fact, approximately 24 children can fit easily into the volume of just one block.
