Week 5 (29th June-3rd July)

For Phonics this week we are revising codes that we have already learnt. Please visit the website links tab for your Phonics activities.

This weeks Tapestry challenge is  to talk about ,understand and have a go at completing the life cycle of a butterfly. Please share  your challenge on Tapestry by Friday 3rd July.

Listen to Miss Lawson read 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' or read the book together at home if you have your own copy. You could also listen to the story on  youtube.

As you listen to the story pick out the key vocabulary such as egg, caterpillar, chrysallis and butterfly.

Discuss the life cycle of the butterfly as you go through the story. Discuss the important information that the children need to complete the independent activity.

Complete the cut and stick butterfly life cycle  activity. (see worksheets below) below)It is important that you r child understands that the life cycle is circular-that it keeps going around.

Have fun!

We have attached a longer 7 page work book for an extra challenge. If you want ot do a simpler activity use the shorter cut and stick worksheet. Also attached is a life cycle word mat fot reference. If you are not able to print out the worksheets, please ask your child to have a go at drawing their own life cycle and label it.

If your child is really secure with the knowledge and understanding of the life cycle of a butterfly then they could then try and choose a different minibeast for this weeks life cycle challenge.
