Year 4 News
Mathletics is up and running again in Y4. Miss Hill and Miss Sanchez have assigned some tasks to all the children to complete, so take a look to see what you need to do!
We love to share your achievements in school so don't forget to bring in any certificates that you receive.
Y4 children have started writing some letters, but why?
We are starting a project together with a school from Sevilla, Spain to develop Pen pal relationships. Spanish students, who are learning English, and our children will share cards and letters from each other, that way all our students will build confidence and will develop further English skills.
Also, Pen pal letters provide the opportunity to break down classroom walls. They will provide an avenue to create better writers via an authentic audience. It's lovely for the children to know that their letters will not only be read, but that they will also receive replies. It's great for them to have an opportunity to really write for a purpose!
Here at Fawcett we have already placed our letters inside these colourful envelopes ready to travel directly to Spain.
Year 4 Reading List
To help with the difficult task of choosing a new book, we have put together a recommended reading list. This is not an exhaustive list, but it represents a cross-section of books suitable for your child’s year group. Please click on the link below. Happy reading! :)
Ancient Greek Workshop - Monday 3rd December
In Year 4 this term our topic is Ancient Greece. We are delighted to announce that, as part of this topic, the children will be taking part in an Ancient Greek workshop. The workshop will involve a mixture of activities including a Greek themed quiz, playing a Greek strategy game, re-enacting Greek myths and legends and watching a warrior fresh from battle with his weapons and armour. These activities, role play opportunities and artefacts will really bring this subject alive for the children!
For further details, please refer to the letter. The children have been given one to send home, but in the case that it gets mislaid, please see the link below:
What a Show!
Thank you so much to everyone who came to watch the puppet show last Friday. We hope you enjoyed it! We certainly had a super week making the puppets and learning how to move them. And we thought the cockatoo scene was brilliant - it certainly made everyone laugh! :)
We had a particularly exciting Monday morning this week - the children got the chance to make their puppets for the show this coming Friday. Everyone had a lot of fun and we think the end result is fabulous. We can't wait to put the puppets into action later this week!
Don't forget to get your tickets from the office :) Have a look at the album below to see more examples of our creations!
