Holocaust Visitor Visits The Federation

Year 6 were very lucky to hear from Ruth Barnett, a Kindertransportee, this week.

Ruth, speaking on behalf of the Holocaust Educational Trust, told us her life story and how, as a 4 year old, she had been evacuated out of Nazi Germany with her brother to the safety of England as part of the Kindertransport scheme.  We were all fascinated to hear about how her life had developed: the different foster families with which she stayed; the dangers her family faced as the Nazi persecution grew and how she felt looking back at these very difficult times.  Ruth also encouraged us all to think about our role in the world around us, stressing the importance of asking questions, thinking critically and treating all those around us with equal respect.
