Become a parent governor

Becoming a parent governor - vacancy at Trumpington Meadows

Are you a parent of a child or children at Trumpington Meadows? Are you looking to help out in your community and local school? Have you thought about becoming a school governor?

Our Governing Body is made up of parents, staff and others who care about the school, who have different backgrounds, skills and experiences. They are all volunteers who work together for the benefit of the Federation and the community.

Being a governor is a voluntary role that is rewarding, stimulating, and enjoyable. Please don’t worry that you do not have a background in formal education or specialist knowledge. We welcome hearing from people from all walks of life who can bring different perspectives. Enthusiasm and curiosity is the most important starting point, and there is training and support to help you develop during your time in post. Your fellow governors have many years combined experience and will also offer you support.

You need to be over the age of 18, and to be able to attend per year:

  • 6 full governing board meetings (2 hours, usually online)

  • 6 committee meetings (2 hours, usually online)

  • 3 school visits (1-1.5 hours)

Meetings are arranged for the morning or evening to fit around work and family commitments.
